Airlines cancel nearly 700 U.S. flights

Airlines in the United States canceled over 700 flights early Monday as they battled to meet a

rise in summer travel demand owing to a labor shortfall ranging from pilots to crew members.

According to flight-tracking website Flightaware.com, there were 669 cancellations inside,

into, or out of the United States as of 6.07 a.m. ET. On Sunday, about 860 flights were canceled.

Delta Air Lines, United Airlines Holdings Inc, and Republic Airlines Inc each canceled over 100 flights,

while American Airlines Group Inc canceled 51 flights as of early Monday.
