President Joe Biden signed into law the gun safety legislation enacted by Congress this week on Saturday.
"Time is of the essence," Biden said as he gave remarks beside first lady
Jill Biden in the Roosevelt Room. "People's lives will be saved."
The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act ended a nearly 30-year deadlock on Capitol Hill,
becoming the first significant piece of federal gun reform legislation to pass both chambers since the Brady bill.
"At a time when it appears hard to get anything done in Washington," Biden added, "we are achieving something significant."
