Europe Now Requires All New Cars To Have Anti-Speeding Monitors

The European Union formally enacted a mandate on Wednesday mandating all

new vehicles sold in the EU to carry technology that, when triggered, may deter drivers from speeding.

Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) is a technology that employs several techniques to

determine the speed limit on every particular road that a vehicle is moving on.

The primary method for determining a roadway's stated speed limit is to use the vehicle's outward-facing cameras.

The laws, however, require ISA to use map data and "deep learning" if the speed limit cannot be calculated from a sign.
