Residents on the fire's northern outskirts were still under evacuation orders, so they were anticipated to start in-person lessons on Tuesday.

Exceptions will be allowed for kids still evacuated by the country's largest wildfire or those whose health has been harmed by the smoke, according to the West Las Vegas School District.

Meanwhile, firefighters battled the enormous blaze in the Rocky Mountain foothills, clearing brush and preventing the flames from consuming more homes.

The wildfire has burned 308 square miles (798 square kilometers) of tinder-dry ponderosa trees, fueled by decades of drought, rising temperatures, and spring winds.

Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate the fires, which have destroyed 300 properties, including homes.
