Justin Bieber stated on Friday that he will be taking a break from performing due to facial paralysis on one side.
The musician said that he suffers from Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which prevents him from moving half of his face and performing on stage.
"It's because of this virus that affects my ear nerves and facial nerves, paralyzing my face," he explained in the video.
"This eye does not blink, as you can see. This nostril will not move, thus I can't smile on this side of my face. So this side of my face is completely paralyzed."
Ramsay Hunt syndrome, according to the Mayo Clinic, is a genetic disorder "When a shingles outbreak impacts the facial nerve near one of your ears, it's known as shingles.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome can include facial paralysis and hearing loss in the afflicted ear, in addition to the painful shingles rash."
