Navy identifies pilot killed in California crash

According to the Navy, Lt. Richard Bullock, a US Navy pilot, was killed in an aircraft crash in California on Friday.

"The Navy mourns this awful death with Lt. Bullock's family, friends, and shipmates," Navy officials stated in a statement.

According to the Navy, Bullock was killed when his F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter plane crashed in Trona, California, about 2:30 p.m. local time on Friday.

He was on a regular training flight when his jet crashed in a "remote, unpopulated location," according to the Navy.

 According to authorities, no people were hurt in the collision.

Recovery attempts are still underway, with Navy personnel and local authorities on the site.
