For the first time, hearing aids can now be bought over the counter at stores all around the country.
As of Monday, adults with mild to moderate hearing loss can purchase hearing aids without a prescription thanks to a historic decision made by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
According to the White House, it will cost hundreds of dollars less than they did previously.
According to the White House, the FDA predicts that the new regulation will result in average hearing aid costs falling by as much as $3,000 per pair.
Consumers should save more than $2,800 per pair, or roughly $1,400 per hearing aid.
The FDA first made the announcement in August after delivering a final decision that created a new class of over-the-counter hearing aids.
