Stress increases risks of cancer, heart attack and Covid

According to a new study, stress prematurely affects the immune system, increasing the risk of cancer, heart attacks, and infections like Covid.

Traumatic situations, such as the death of a loved one, as well as job stress and discrimination, researchers discovered, accelerate immune system aging.

It has the potential to raise a person's risk of a variety of diseases, including cardiovascular disease.

The findings, which were published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), could help explain why people age differently.

According to the findings of the study: "Understanding inequities in age-related health is critical as the world's population of older persons grows.

"Immune system alterations as people become older are a major factor in their health deterioration.
