The German car maker will surpass Tesla in electric vehicle sales by 2025.

According to Herbert Diess, resolving supply chain concerns would certainly help the German auto giant gain traction in the coming months.

When asked why investors valued Tesla higher than other traditional carmakers, Diess stated, "Markets are always about the future."

"In terms of sales, we're still striving to keep up with and maybe overtake by 2025," Diess added.

Volkswagen's CEO predicts that by 2025, the German automaker will have surpassed Tesla as the world's top seller of electric vehicles.

When asked why investors valued Tesla higher than other traditional carmakers like Volkswagen, Diess stated, "Markets are always about the future."

"We're still striving to keep up with and maybe overtake by 2025 in terms of sales," he stated.
