Following his split decision victory over No. 4 ranked Calvin Kattar in the UFC Austin main event, Josh Emmett will move into the Top 5 rankings in the featherweight category.
Emmett's victory streak now stands at five fights, and the 37-year-old is primed for a title opportunity.
Emmett stated why he should get the next championship shot during the event's post-fight press conference.
When asked what he wants next, Emmett said, "That shot." "I stated the No. 2 and 3 guys are terrific fighters," he explained.
They've fought Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski, two of the best fighters in the world. In the division, we need some new blood.
I'm confident that I can compete with them. I'm the world's best featherweight, and I'm ready."
