LONDON - The Met Office declared a national emergency on Friday, issuing a red 'Extreme Heat' warning for
portions of England on Monday and Tuesday next week, when temperatures might hit record highs.
"Extremely high, maybe record-breaking, temperatures are expected
on Monday and Tuesday," the Met Office wrote on its website.
"Nights in the UK are also expected to be unusually warm, particularly in metropolitan areas.
This is expected to have far-reaching consequences for people and infrastructure."
