Virgin Orbit rocket launches 7 US defense satellites

A customized Boeing 747 flying off the coast of Southern California fired a Virgin Orbit rocket carrying seven U.S. Defense Department satellites into space.

From Mojave Air and Space Port in the Mojave Desert, the modified jumbo jet took off, launching the rocket over the Pacific Ocean to the northwest of Los Angeles.

The U.S. Space Force purchased the launch for a test program run by the Defense Department.

Numerous experiments will be carried out by the seven payloads.

Folks, there you have it. A little before 1 a.m. local time, or approximately an hour after the rocket separated from the 747, the business tweeted.

All client spacecraft were successfully restarted and launched into their intended orbits by NewtonFour.
