Three passengers and two dogs survive after 72-foot yacht caught fire

After their 72-foot yacht caught fire and sank off the coast of New Hampshire, three people and two dogs miraculously survived.

The yacht, named the "Elusive," was going towards a port in New Castle, a little hamlet just a few miles south of the Maine border, when the commotion began.

One of the passengers onboard noticed black smoke billowing up from below deck at 4 p.m.

In an interview with the news organization, Portsmouth Fire Chief Todd Germain remarked, "Whatever happened on the boat happened fast."

"They had to jump in the water" after witnessing the smoke on the 2007 Marlow yacht, according to the fire chief.

"Within minutes, the boat was totally filled with smoke," a Marine Patrol official said.
